The Problem…

It all started when my kids (who so desperately wanted a puppy) never gave up asking their mom to allow them to have a pet. They had chosen a name three years prior to knowing whether their wish would be granted. My wife did not want to compromise the cleanliness of our home. She was also concerned about the pet dander in relation to her allergies. This meant maintaining a clean pet would be essential. During the fall season, we welcomed the newest member of our family, Chester. With the Midwest winters, the cold weather and snow were particularly a problem. Chester could not be bathed outside; therefore, we needed another option. My wife ruled out using the family bathtub, kitchen sink, or utility sink. While Chester seemed to woo my wife into being his favorite, she did not appreciate the extra work required to keep our home clean. In addition, for my wife to control her allergic reactions, Chester had to be bathed frequently. Unfortunately, it always created a big mess that exhausted everyone.

The Solution…

Keeping Peace

In order to keep peace at home, I became charged with creating a solution. I thought, surely, we could not be the only pet parents concerned with keeping a clean house and a clean pet! I started researching products to see what could be used to bathe pets indoors and had no success. I had previously worked as an engineer in the field of product development for more than 25 years.

Concept to Market

I had brought several companies’ products from concept to the market. Utilizing my prior experience, I envisioned creating a stand-alone product that would create an easier way to bathe pets at home without the mess. This was the beginning of my journey with the goal being to help solve an at-home dilemma for pet parents! Hence ZipSpa® was born!

Our Inspiration

Our Chester did not make it to experience the completed ZipSpa®. However, he was able to be a part of the product as it was being developed. He was with our family for 11 years. Chester was our inspiration to keep going. It is our hope that pet parents will be able to enjoy the flexibility of keeping their pets clean and “keep the love at home.”
